Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss has snapped up an oceanfront townhouse a few miles from Los Angeles International Airport.

Ms. Buss, 58, the controlling owner of the basketball franchise and one of the most influential women in sports, paid $2.6 million for the four-bedroom duplex, according to a deed filed in county records earlier this month.

The contemporary house is part of the Breakers complex in Los Angeles’s Playa del Rey neighborhood and shares in the community’s luxury amenities, including a pool, a spa and a gym, according to the former listing with William Passavia and Susan Kim of Compass. The agents declined to comment.

She bought the home from Claudia and Barry Poznick, MGM’s president of unscripted and alternative television, according to property records and The Los Angeles Times, which first reported the sale.

This is not the sports maven’s first foray in the neighborhood.

Through her trust, Ms. Buss also picked up a four-bedroom condo at the Cleo development inland in nearby Playa Vista in 2018. And last year, she sold a Mediterranean-style house, also in Playa Vista, for $2.575 million, according to property records.

Inside, the open-floor plan features white oak floors, granite countertops in the kitchen and a fireplace in the family room. A steel-frame staircase leads to the master suite on the second floor, images of the home show.

Ms. Buss couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
